PET PORTRAIT GALLERY

About the portraits

My pet portraits are approximately 7”x 9” on archival, 100% cotton paper. I use a combination of watercolor and gouache paint, which is a thicker & more pigmented medium, very similar to watercolor, to paint the portraits.

PHOTO DESCRIPTION: The photo that started it all! Gracie’s portrait was my first commission in 2020 and this is Gracie with her portrait. When I shared the photo on social media, I started receiving more commission requests for pet portraits.

ace

Ace was a special commission I received in 2023 by a client who wished to gift it to a new business partner. Unlike my other portraits, she asked to include a background that told a story about the feisty pup.

Upon her first meeting with her new partner, she also met his dog, Ace. While they were busy conducting their first meeting, Ace found her purse and proceeded to break into a small bottle of her perfume. According to her, Ace was ‘smitten’ with her afterwards and proceeded to ‘fall in love’ with her!

For this commission, I used watercolor and colored pencil. I included some items from her purse as well as the ‘notorious’ bottle of spilled perfume with a special customized ‘Ace of Spades’ card as the logo.

PHOTO DESCRIPTION: Final portrait of Ace. Photos of the details: perfume bottle & tiny makeup bag. A photo of Ace in frame.

Ella x2

Ella was a sweet rescue my friend fostered in 2022 and she was adopted into a loving forever home. As a gift to Ella’s new family, my client asked for two portraits: one for herself and one for Ella’s new foster. Below are the two portraits I painted, side by side.

Sadly, Ella passed away in 2023, but not before she was able to run free in wide open spaces upstate and feel tremendous love from her family.

PHOTO DESCRIPTION: The portraits of Ella, 1 and 2.
